April 2011

When you’re invited to the famous Chanel Tribeca Dinner Party, you better believe you’ve gotta dress to the nines. It’s what’s expected. Unlike the faux pas of wearing a band t-shirt to see the same band play live in concert, it is perfectly acceptable to wear the designer to the designer’s event. The red, or should we say black carpet at the event was studded with celebrities, fashionistas, models and fashion editors all dressed to impress.

Bag of the Week

Our pick for Bag of the Week is the sensational, mod-tastic London Leather Tote. This sharp, black & white tote evokes that rarefied swingin’ 60s feel while retaining a modern identity. Made from real leather, the contrast colors of this bag make it an eye-catching choice. Sophisticated design means that this bag is destined to become a classic.

Gossip Corner

Emma Watson‘s decision to focus on her studies and gain a degree at Brown University was a bold one. However, from the sound of it, she was not having an easy time. She has been facing down daily heckling from her peers. Her brightness and ability to answer questions in class drew mockery from fellow students who responded with things like “3 points to Gryffindor!” when she got an answer right. Watson has recently announced her decision to leave Brown to “completely finish my work on Harry Potter and to focus on my other professional and acting projects.” She is very firm about her plans to return to Brown in the future to finish her degree.

Lindsay Lohan, shortly after landing her first acting gig in some time, ran into trouble. Disagreements this week between “Gotti” director Marc Fiore and Lindsay’s management got her bumped from the project. But, Lindsay didn’t take this decision sitting down. She fought her way back into the role, and as of today, has been re-hired.

Actor (and sometimes writer) Ethan Hawke announced this week that he and his wife, Ryan Shawhughes, are expecting a child. This will be Hawke’s fourth, with two children from his previous marriage to Uma Thurman.

Bag of the Week

Sometimes, when a handbag comes equipped with a lot of bells and whistles, we don’t really like it. “It’s too busy,” we think, and we pass on it in favor of a simpler, more unfussy bag. However, when it comes to our Grace Croc Leather Bag, we have to sit back and admire the incredible eloquence of its style. Croc print, flap closure with a gold twistlock, gold-toned faux python trim, and a chain strap hit all of the right marks. This vintage-inspired bag is so classic that even in 100 years, it will still be in style.
